Getting Started with AssetOS

Learn how to access and get started with the AssetOS platform.

Overview

AssetOS provides secure access to your asset management workspace. This guide will help you log in, navigate the interface, and understand the basic concepts.

Logging In

First Time Access

  1. Navigate to AssetOS: Open your web browser and go to http://localhost:8080
  2. Login Page: You'll see the AssetOS login screen
  3. Enter Credentials: Use the username and password provided by your administrator
  4. Sign In: Click the "Sign In" button to access your workspace

Password Reset

If you've forgotten your password:

  1. Click "Forgot Password?" on the login page
  2. Enter your email address
  3. Check your email for password reset instructions
  4. Follow the link to create a new password

For enhanced security, you can use magic link authentication:

  1. Enter your email address on the login page
  2. Click "Send Magic Link"
  3. Check your email for the secure login link
  4. Click the link to automatically log in

Dashboard Overview

Once logged in, you'll see the main AssetOS dashboard:

The left sidebar contains the main navigation:

  • Dashboard: Overview of your assets and recent activity
  • Assets: Manage your digital assets
  • Asset Types: Define and manage asset schemas
  • Components: Work with reusable components
  • Lists: Manage structured data and relationships
  • Settings: Configure your account and preferences

The top search bar allows you to:

  • Search across all assets
  • Filter by asset type, tags, or metadata
  • Find specific files or components

Quick Actions

The dashboard provides quick access to common tasks:

  • Upload new assets
  • Create new asset types
  • View recent activity
  • Access frequently used lists

User Account

Profile Settings

Access your profile settings by clicking your name in the top-right corner:

  • Personal Information: Update your name, email, and contact details
  • Preferences: Set your default language, timezone, and display options
  • Security: Change your password and manage two-factor authentication
  • Notifications: Configure email and in-app notification preferences

Permissions

Your access level determines what you can do in AssetOS:

  • Viewer: Can view and search assets
  • Editor: Can create, edit, and organize assets
  • Admin: Can manage asset types, users, and system settings

Security Best Practices

Password Security

  • Use a strong, unique password
  • Never share your login credentials
  • Change your password regularly
  • Enable two-factor authentication if available

Session Management

  • Log out when using shared computers
  • Don't leave your session open on public devices
  • Report any suspicious activity to your administrator

Data Protection

  • Only upload files you have permission to store
  • Respect copyright and licensing requirements
  • Follow your organization's data handling policies
